While we believe our tours are the best, you should look around to find the caravan company that best suits your interests and needs.  We are not the most expensive nor the cheapest, but the best with what we offer and the tours we visit.  When you compare us and what we provide; places we visit and tours we take you will see a big difference between us and all other caravans to Alaska.  Most other Caravans have one time hired Wagonmasters and roundtrip itineraries.  They lack the experience in Alaska and count going home as part of the tour to make the trips seem longer and more worthwhile.

Meet our past customers at our Florida rally and hear directly from them how wonderful and educational our Caravans to Alaska are.  Our photo section goes back 3 years and covers all 3 tours each summer.  Visit them to see where we go and what we do in photo album style.

Six Day Iditarod Tour

NEW-NEW-NEW, IDITAROD

Michelle & I have been talking about putting a winter tour together for years…..We decided this was the year to kick it off and put together a comprehensive, First Class & Amazing Six day Iditarod Dog Sled Tour.  With our Tour experience and Michelle & Ed’s Iditarod & Yukon Quest experience and extended friends & family this will be the best “behind the scenes” adventure ever.  It will include all transportation, six nights at the prestigious Lakefront Hotel, the headquarters of the Iditarod Race.  Three full family meals with racing and experienced Alaskan mushers joining, Dog sled trail rides with Michelle & Ed’s Iditarod dogs, The night of the Iditarod Banquet meeting all the Iditarod racing contenders and a fine meal. (What a great autograph opportunity) Going behind the scenes with Michelle as dog handlers or spectators for both the downtown Media start and again the next day at the official start in Willow. As a bonus this opportunity include membership into the Prestigious “Iditarod Trail Committee” Plus numerous sightseeing adventures around “winter Anchorage” during the days leading up to the start.  Michelle & Spike will be hosting the tour personally as Ed prepares to run the Iditarod race.  The price is less than one half commercial tour operators charge for the same event…….ours are small, 8 people/four couples, operated and hosted by Iditarod mushers and especially all the behind the scenes and extras no one else has the availability or knowledge to do…………….Can’t wait for the tour to start, upon arrival Tuesday February 26th, in Anchorage, ending March 4th when you depart.  There will be plenty of time to look around and shop between events.  As we are keeping it small we expect to sell out quickly, so give Spike a call to hold your spot or get more information.  Call Spike 800 842 7764  The cost will be $4450 per person and be all inclusive with a hands on Iditarod tour by Spike & Michelle………….*a portion of all proceeds go to Veterans under the “WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJET“……………..see you there.

Itinerary:

Day 1 (Feb 26)
Arrive in Anchorage where you will shuttle to the famous Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, the official headquarters and accommodations for the Iditarod! Mingle with mushers and meet their dog teams staying at the hotel—plus enjoy ongoing pre-race events and entertainment in the lounge.

Day 2 (Feb 27)
Get your bearings by exploring all the best Anchorage has to offer. We’ll check out some of the fabulous local museums, tour the impressive carvings at the Alaska State Snow Sculpture Contest, and peruse the creations of over 150 Alaska native artisans at the Charlotte Jensen Native Art market. In the evening, relax and enjoy a delicious group dinner with Michelle, Ed & Spike.

Day 3 (Feb 28)
Let the pre-race excitement build! Today, you’ll enjoy several Iditarod events, including the meet-and-greet. In the evening, you’ll attend the Musher’s Banquet to enjoy a delicious meal with all the 2019 mushers, their families and fans. Don’t forget to pack a pen for autographs!

Day 4 (March 1)
Spend the day getting to know all the incredible dogs in Ed’s Iditarod team. You’ll learn about the ins and outs of mushing and dog care, and then go for a fabulous sled dog ride with these amazing athletes on scenic Anchorage-area trails. Evening is free.

Day 5 (March 2)
Today you get your authentic, behind-the-scenes Iditarod experience! You’ll be a “handler” for the team as we get ready. First, you’ll help harness and bootie the dogs. Then, you will try to hold the team back as we bring them up to the start line. For lunch, we’ll enjoy home-cooking at the famous Gwennies Old Alaska Restaurant.

Day 6 (March 3)
Today is the restart in Willow, the official start of the “Last Great Race” and the excitement is through the roof. With teams leaving every 2 minutes, you’ll be right there in the middle of it all, watching the mushers preparing and leaving—a true insider view of the Iditarod. This is the real deal, folks! You’ll be helping out as handlers, assisting Ed and his team up to the start line. After we see Ed and team off on his 1000 mile journey we will head out for our last group dinner.

Day 7 (March 4)
Return home

Cost $4450 per person
